29th May 2016

On May Bank Holiday Sunday 29th, Alcoholic Architecture channels Ghanaian rhythms and safari house as our first club night drops: Clouded Judgements.

On the decks: the dance floor will vibrate under the afroparty beats of Percolate DJ’s Krywald and Farrer.

On the bar: beers and cocktails and the mighty ORIJIN, a Ghanaian bitters-based concoction being flown in for one night only from the plains.  Alcoholic Architecture will be the first bar in London to put forth a menu entirely inspired by West African drinking cultures.

The cloud will be pumping hard with a breathable alcoholic Pina Colada cocktail; straight to the lungs and eyeballs for a suitably distorting bank holiday.

Dress code: Maximum pattern.

Ponchos are provided for the cloud, but this is Clouded Judgements, so prepare to get hot and sticky.

25th May 2016

Back by unpredictably popular demand, Bompas & Parr is planning a second aromatic outing for the pioneering Armpit Sniffing speed dating night - officially known as Romancing the Armpit #2.

The intimate exploration of our most infamous sweat glands was a massive sell-out earlier this month, so we're bringing it back later this month. In contrast to conventional speed dating nights, our musky lotharios don a paper bag to mask their faces, leaving potential lovers to sniff out their suitability to romance, maybe more.

The theory behind its popularity is perhaps secreted in pheromones – the airborne compounds secreted in our sweat – which play a role in sexual attraction. Body odour is largely influenced by Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) molecules, which are genetically determined and linked to the immune system. Experiments have shown that opposites attract: we tend to judge potential sexual partners as more attractive if their MHC composition is different from our own.

The next round of Armpit Sniffing speed dating kicks off on 25th May with a lecture into the science of scent and genetic compatibility, before bags are slipped over participants' heads and the odour-assessing commences.

There are no rules on cleanliness and coiffure: all smell levels and hairstyles are fair game. Every participant will smell each other - using nosing cones - before grading their reactions on cards and your hosts at Bompas & Parr will then link up matching odorous pairs to see if the sparks fly.

Pheromone dating of the past has given insight into your genetic compatibility. The advantage of Romancing the Armpit speed dating is added awkwardness, giving a telling insight into their personality. Further, what’s the point in matching genetically with an armpit that belongs to an aesthetically intolerable face or nauseating character?Tickets are £10 and available through Billetto.
